More than 95 percent of Belarusians pay property taxes on time. What threatens debtors?

The vast majority of Belarusians are calculated on property taxes either on time or with a slight delay. The latter concerns people who are not malicious defaulters at all, but show forgetfulness. We remind you that the time to pay property taxes is coming to an end. No later than November 16, 2026, you need to make a single property payment, which includes three types of taxes - transport, land and real estate.

Property taxes for 2025 have already been paid by about half of the citizens who were presented with the amount of taxes. Denis Tereshkov, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Taxation of Individuals of the Ministry for Taxes and Duties, said: The tax authorities created about 3.6 million notices worth about 440 million rubles, of which slightly less than 100 million rubles for residents of Minsk. More than 1.8 million people have already paid. Many paid off the budget as soon as they received the notification. By the way, more and more payers prefer to see them in electronic rather than paper form. This year, the number of those who preferred electronic notifications has more than doubled and exceeded 300 thousand citizens.

Those who have not received the notice, it is time to make sure that the single property tax is not calculated. It also happens if the benefits imposed on a citizen overlap tax obligations. You can check this in the personal account of the payer on the MTS website or directly in the ERIP, going the following way: Payments and transfers / Settlement System (ERIP) / Taxes / Region / District / IMS in the area at the place of registration of an individual / Single property payment. Next, you need to introduce your ODI. After that, the estimated amount will appear.

It is easy to find out your UNP: www.nalog.gov.by / All services / Information from the State Register of Payers (other obliged persons) / Search for individuals (top right). In the opened plate enter the necessary data (F.I.O., identification number, passport number). A single property tax can be paid in parts. Those who have chosen this option should not forget to make the last tranche no later than November 16. The number of individuals who allow debts on a single property payment is annually reduced, but still not equal to zero.

Even if the debtors are only 5%, the amount lost by the budget is approximately 22 million rubles. This is, for example, the cost of several state-of-the-art MRI machines or major repairs of several schools.

The tax authorities have been patient for a long time. According to the expert, after the expiration of the deadline for paying taxes, debtors are sent several messages about the need to repay the debt - in December, January, February. And only after that, if there is no reaction, they turn to the enforcement authorities with a demand to recover the calculated amount. Now there is a new mechanism to stimulate the timely and full fulfillment of obligations. For example, a person did not pay taxes before the end of this year, and the amount of non-payment exceeds one basic value (45 rubles). Then, when calculating taxes for the next year, he will be presented with an additionally increased coefficient - 15 percent of the unpaid amount.
