Today on the calendar is Thursday, which is known as a clean day, and this year it is very symbolically celebrated as World Handwashing Day. The Day was first celebrated in 2008 at the initiative of the UN Children’s Fund to remind about the importance of hygiene for the prevention and prevention of many dangerous diseases. The problem is particularly relevant for countries in Asia, Africa and South America. But in prosperous countries, the problem of dirty hands also exists, especially among children.

And, according to UNICEF, it is very serious: around the world, about 5,000 children die every day from diseases that arise from dirt from hands, and more than 1.5 million babies annually.

According to researchers at Michigan State University, only 5% of the world’s population washes their hands correctly. Whether you are in this number is easy to check by comparing how you wash your hands and how epidemiologists recommend it. And their advice is as follows: turn on the tap and apply soap on your hands; it is good to wipe both hands with foam, not forgetting the back side, the areas between your fingers and under your nails; rub both hands for at least 20 seconds, in the end it is good to wash both hands with clean running water. And, of course, dry or dry.

“Comrades, wash your hands with soap and water before eating,” Vladimir Mayakovsky urged. We only add that it must be done after eating, and after returning from the street, and after visiting the toilet

Today, on the International Day of Rural Women, it is imperative to bow down to these tireless workers who, often living without the usual urban amenities, work tirelessly, and also lead a household, raise beautiful children, showing them an example of hard work, maternal care, kindness, human resilience. In the Year of the Belarusian woman, it is necessary to bow - all the more so.

The roots of the majority of Minsk residents are in the village, so for sure everyone knows how after the Great Patriotic War our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, in the absence of men who died at the front, in partisans and in the underground, heroically and in a feminine way calmly restored their native villages and cities, turned into ashes, returning peaceful life to their native land.

Village women still set an example in all spheres of economic and social life. Today, they are not only peasant women, but also rural teachers, doctors, cultural workers, entrepreneurs and even heads of large agricultural collectives - almost every second agricultural enterprise in the country is headed by a woman.

International Day of Rural Women was established by the UN General Assembly in February 2008.

In 1985, WHO declared October Breast Cancer Month and 15 October World Breast Cancer Day. Attention to this problem is not accidental. Every day about 100 women die from the insidious disease. Therefore, the purpose of the Day is to remind our beloved ladies about the need to carefully monitor their health, the importance of early diagnosis of the disease.

In Belarus, women aged 18-49 in the absence of complaints and pathology of the mammary glands are recommended to undergo ultrasound and visit a mammologist at least once a year. And women from 49 years old once every 3 years must do a mammogram – this is a special program to search for breast cancer.

Statistics say that breast cancer often develops in white women, but among black fatal outcomes more. However, whether the reason is body color, or the availability of specialized care is not specified.

Breast cancer has long held the first place in the world for malignant diseases in women and the second most deadly. Now the prognosis for patients with breast cancer has become many times more favorable.

International White Cane Day reminds society of blind people and the need to support them. It was established in 1970 at the initiative of the International Federation of the Blind and is celebrated annually on October 15. Although the history of the white cane is much older.

English gentlemen in the XIX-XX centuries always carried a cane. In 1921, British photographer James Biggs, after an accident that led to vision loss, had to learn to move around his hometown. None of the drivers and passers-by knew he was blind, so they ignored James. Then he decided to change the color of his dark cane, painting it with white paint. And people around him began to notice him and help in various situations.

This idea was taken up by other blind people living in England and later in other European countries. But not immediately. People with disabilities were asked to use canes with light signals or painted fluorescent paints, as well as to use armbands. In 1965, the European Regional Committee of the World Council for the Welfare of the Blind adopted a resolution on the white cane as a distinctive sign of blind and visually impaired people.

Take care!
