Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko offered Russian businessman, head of Interros and Norilsk Nickel companies Vladimir Potanin closer cooperation with Belarus at a meeting in Minsk on September 8, a Minsk-Novosti correspondent reports.
The President noted that since Interros is a diversified structure, Belarus has many interests in common with this company.
- I asked our Prime Minister to give you detailed information on the main directions of Belarus’ development and the points where we can cooperate. We are open to cooperation. And we would like your company (a successful company, even in these difficult times) to cooperate with Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state noted that Potanin is a person who is versed in many issues, who also knows the areas in which cooperation can be developed.
- Quarry trucks. Surprisingly for me, it turned out, and tires are interested - our "Belshina" production. And joint projects on maintenance and creation of new equipment in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is also an interesting and promising project for us. You are a multisector in your structure – there is a humanitarian direction and an IT sphere. We know how to do something in Belarus. You also know very well what we can do, the president said.
Ah. Lukashenko also drew attention to the Belarusian origin of V. Potanin.
- We're countrymen by our roots. Your grandfather is from Mogilevshchyna, the leader noted.
- I'm a quarter Belarusian. Yes, he was such a real peasant. There are roots, V. Potanin confirmed.
- Everything is for you to pay attention to Belarus, and we cooperated more closely with you in this regard, Alexander Lukashenko said.
It is important to note that BELAZ and Norilsk Nickel have already signed a cooperation agreement, the purpose of which is the creation of new generation mining equipment, the introduction of unmanned technologies for mining and joint work on other new projects. To implement these plans, it is planned to create a joint venture, as well as an organization with a full-scale repair base for the development of production, repair and maintenance of underground mining equipment.
