The project “Healer” gives future doctors the first and useful experience of working in the hospital

The project “Healer-2026” united fifty students of educational medical institutions of Minsk. His commander Aleksandra Gorenkova on the air of Radio-Minsk told how the guys are baptized in the busiest hospital in the capital. The Minsk City Medical Labor Project "Healer-2026" is a unique student team, where future surgeons, therapists, nurses receive their first practical experience throughout the summer, working in different departments of the City Clinical Emergency Hospital.

The project involves students of the Belarusian State Medical University and two medical colleges of the capital. In total, 50 fighters are involved in the "Healer": five detachments, four of which are completely maiden.

What were the first emotions of the project participants at the beginning? Alexandra shares that the children were shocked by the number of people in need of help and the fact that life was much more complicated:

- But the shock was mixed with excitement: they touched reality, tried the profession in practice. They shared stories about how and who they treated, what they did. Every participant wrote to me. It felt like the guys were touching and at the same time igniting their work. There was a lot of excitement among beginners: how to take blood, find a vein. But the hospital staff always helped, trained the children, insured.

Gorenkova also said that participation in the project affects the choice of sub-residency. (This, in turn, helps you get the job you want.)

- There are different sub-residences, and they have different passing scores. Work in the project "Healer" adds points. That is, the guys not only earn money and gain experience, but also get the opportunity to choose the sub-residency they want, the interlocutor said.

In the allocation of students participating in the services and treatment units of the hospital, both their personal wishes and the existing staffing needs were taken into account. Someone even went to the children's burn unit.

- The main value is that children who are still learning, get acquainted with the nuances of the profession and work processes from the inside. Also, college students after participating in the project “Healer” may want to continue their studies at the medical university and become doctors. The country needs such personnel, its commander told about the advantages of the project.

When asked how the work in the “Healer” differs from the usual practice, Alexandra answered:

- In practice, you are supervised by a doctor or nurse. The curator shows, perhaps, gives something to do. You might say, “Look at it from the outside.” In the "Healer" everyone really works. Fighters are adapting, and this will definitely help them in their future work.

When asked if it was sad that it was summer outside and you had to work, Alexandra replied:

- They work in shifts and have free time. They went where they wanted to go, and they did. It is easier to understand your profession in the summer, when there are no overdue studies. Fighters work in a team, together, and have become friends with each other.

The interlocutor added that events are constantly organized for children. For example, there was an excursion to the city OSVOD with a boat ride.

The project on September 15 will be two years old, but the registration for the next semester is already underway: there are more and more interested people.

- There were those who had already worked with us in the first year and wanted to do it again. Someone after the project got a job in an ambulance hospital on a permanent basis. That's 13 people. There are newcomers, they work the shift for the first time. Next year, the project will be launched in the same summer period: from mid-July to mid-September. To register, you need to go to your college or university to the secretary of the BRSM and say that you want to work in the project “Healer”, – said Alexandra.
