To do this, there is a preventive examination and medical examination, but many Kaliningrad residents wonder: what is the difference between them and which examination is better to undergo? The Centers for Public Health and Medical Prevention explained what is included in each procedure and how often it should be checked.
An examination is a basic health check. The doctor will measure pressure, height and weight, assess body mass index, and check blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Depending on age, other tests may be needed, such as an ECG or fluorography.
According to the results, the doctor will tell you what to pay attention to and what can be changed in everyday life. For example, give recommendations on nutrition and physical activity.
Clinical examination includes more examinations than a regular examination. It helps to identify diseases at an early stage, when a person can still feel good and not even suspect the problem.
Depending on age and gender, the doctor may prescribe additional tests and tests. For example, women may be offered a mammogram, as well as a stool test for hidden blood. If deviations are detected at the first stage, the patient will be sent for additional examinations or to specialized specialists.
The examination can be done every year. Clinical examination for adults aged 18 to 39 years is carried out every three years, and after 40 years - annually. For some categories of citizens there are separate rules.
After the examination, the doctor will explain the results and give recommendations. Based on the results of medical examination, the health group will also be determined and, if necessary, further examinations or regular observation by a doctor will be prescribed.
Professional examination helps to check the main health indicators, and medical examination allows you to be examined in more detail. In both cases, it is better not to wait until something hurts: some diseases develop for a long time without noticeable symptoms.
