Give the forest a new life! Trade unions of Belarus joined the restoration of natural ecosystems in Grodno region over the weekend.
Before the beginning – a detailed briefing. Important is the scheme of planting seedlings, and proper work with inventory. More than 200 activists on the territory of the Lida forestry farm were put in order. Spruce, pines and birch trees were planted on an area of more than 10 hectares.
Yuri Senko, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus: Apart from here, our specialists and trade union activists are working today in absolutely all areas, both in Gomel and in Mogilev. This past weekend, I worked during the whole event. We see how important this is for our country, for our production, for the environment, for the entire European part of the continent, which we, in a good sense, feed with oxygen.
Yuri Karaev, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee: Those regular places that are in the forestry will not cope with this. And that is why the help of such a huge landing force of 200-250 people is very invaluable.
The western region suffered from the elements: powerful gusts of wind and storm fronts damaged almost two thousand hectares of forest. But these areas will be fully restored.
