Protesters tried to storm the Colosseum in Rome

In Rome, protesters tried to enter the Colosseum, but police quickly stopped them. In some areas of the Italian capital, demonstrations were accompanied by clashes with law enforcement officers, the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore reports.

In the central part of the city, security measures were increased on the streets with expensive shops, as well as in the area of the Grand Circus and Piazza del Popolo. Approaches to these places were blocked by police.

At the same time, some of the demonstrators, who intended to emphasize the peaceful nature of their action, deliberately chose other areas of the capital for marches, the British newspaper The Guardian notes.

Protest events also took place in Milan, Florence, Turin, Bologna and other Italian cities. Authorities have stepped up public order protection following demonstrations on October 17 and 18.

According to the Italian Interior Ministry, 371 people were detained during the day. Among them are 110 minors.
