Check autumn slug shelters near beds

With the first cold, slugs do not necessarily disappear: depending on the species, eggs, young or adults survive the winter. Start the inspection from the places where in the summer there were holes in the leaves and mucous marks.
Under boards, pots, among thick weeds and wet plant residues, slugs and heaps of translucent eggs can hide. Raise unwanted objects, collect pests by hand, remove rotting remnants. If damage continues, put a wet board in the evening, and in the morning collect slugs from under it. The beds should not remain permanently damp.
All winter mulch should not be removed: it protects plants and useful soil inhabitants. Excessive wet shelters are removed primarily near problem beds. In the spring, repeat the examination before sprouting. It is impossible to completely get rid of slugs in one autumn.
