On the eve of the end of the quarter and the beginning of holidays in educational institutions of Minsk reminded about the rules of absence of children due to illness, the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.
According to the current procedure, during the period of rising incidence of viral infections, a child with signs of SARS may be absent from a preschool, school or gymnasium for up to five consecutive school days without providing a medical certificate from a polyclinic.
This norm is established by the letter of the Ministry of Health No. 2-1-7/20422 of 06.10.2023 and is valid until a special order.
Important conditions that parents should remember:
- 1.duration of the rule. It applies only to absence for up to five consecutive days. If the child is sick longer, an official certificate is required;
- 2.informing the school. Parents should immediately inform the class leader if the child is sick and stays at home;
- 3.restriction on the nature of the disease. The rule applies specifically to acute respiratory viral infection. It does not mean that you can treat a child at home for five days without medical care.
What to do if the child has symptoms of SARS (sniffle, fever, cough):
- 1.it is recommended to leave it at home and, if necessary, consult a doctor. If the child has recovered within five days, a medical certificate is not required to return to the educational institution;
- 2.if the disease is prolonged. If symptoms persist for longer than five days or if the child’s condition is of concern, it is strongly recommended to seek medical help – in this case, a certificate to return to classes will be needed.
