The job fair “Study and Work” was held at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts on September 10, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

Sixteen organizations of the capital and Minsk region presented stands in the foyer of the university on the first floor. Among them are the Palace of Children and Youth “Zolak”, the Museum of the History of the City of Minsk, the National Center for Artistic Creativity of Children and Youth, the city schools, as well as the National Academic Folk Choir of Belarus named after G. I. Tsitovich and others.

At the break, young people could study the booklets, communicate with representatives of institutions and exchange contacts.

Experience in the specialty instead of casual work
As the head of the department of legal and personnel work of BSUKI Gennady Apanasenko said, the employment of students today has moved to a new legal level. Over the past year, the relevant departments have done a lot of work to update the qualification directories.
- In the modern legal system, “incomplete education” only indicates that a person is in the process of learning. The changes have widened the opportunities for employers: they can now officially and legally employ students in a wide range of positions corresponding to their training profile. As a rule, part-time employment is offered - by 0.5 or 0.25 rates, and the schedule is formed taking into account the student's curriculum.

Today BSUKI students are in demand in the positions of artists of all directions, cultural workers, librarians, teachers of additional education and cult organizers.
- Students have previously arranged to work part-time: waiters, handymen. But it is much better when young people gain experience in the future specialty. This has a double benefit: there is income, and delve into the profession with the opportunity to gain a foothold in the workplace. Employers, in turn, willingly take those graduates with whom they have already cooperated, the representative of the university said.

Librarian is a creative profession
The Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Minsk is also interested in personnel. As the head of the children’s library No. 7 Catherine Dreco said, there are vacancies in a variety of departments: from servicing readers to marketing and acquisition of funds.
- We take students starting from the third year to part-time with the opportunity after graduation to move to full-time. We must adapt to the schedule of students. Lack of experience is not a problem, the main thing is genuine interest. Librarianship today is not limited to books. We arrange meetings with writers, master classes, quests and quizzes. Our employees themselves take the initiative and even organize theatrical performances. Librarians are also creative people.

I was working at McBy, but that's not it
For full-time students, the “Study and Work” initiative, organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection together with the Ministry of Education, became an opportunity not only to find a part-time job, but also to look after the place of future work.

4th year student of the Faculty of Musical and Choreographic Arts Victoria Harlap noted that a live dialogue with employers is a huge plus:
- I already have experience working part-time, so I know how to combine study and work. The main thing for me now is career growth, and the salary is a great incentive for it.

3rd year student Maxim Grigorenko (future cultural manager) at the fair watched the vacancy of a teacher in SMM and blogging in the Minsk State Palace of Children and Youth:
- In my first year, I worked at Mak.by. It was interesting, but working in the specialty is a completely different level. For me, studying comes first, so I'm looking for part-time options in the evenings. The ideal part-time job for a student is when class communication, good people around and personal professional growth are combined.
