The rarest “living fossil” showed the staff of the biostation RSU

Employees of the biostation of the Yesenin RSU published photos of their rarest tree - Ginkgo biloba. The pictures were taken when the plant began to prepare for wintering.

The press service notes that this plant is a real living fossil relic. The species has existed unchanged for more than 270 million years. Ginkgo is an endangered species, in the wild it has survived only in China.

The Ryazan specimen has perfectly adapted to the climate of central Russia: the tree grows well and does not require shelter in winter.
