Russians are advised to make a supply of water, food and medicine: what is the reason
Not panic, but common sense: why experts advise building a supply of water, food and medicine at home.

Even in the most comfortable megacities, we are not immune from the vagaries of the elements and man-made failures. A sudden breakthrough of a heat main, icy rain or hurricane can easily de-energize an entire area, leaving residents without heat, light and water for several days.
Civil defense experts, including expert Viktor Lebedev, emphasize that emergencies are developing rapidly. At the time of the accident, it is too late to go to the store for food. That is why the minimum home reserve, capable of holding a family for 3-4 days, is not a sign of alarmism, but basic everyday wisdom. Such a stock allows you to calmly wait out the accident, while the rest in a hurry sweep the shelves of supermarkets.
Special emphasis is placed on the home medicine cabinet. General practitioner Elena Gromova warns that for people with chronic diseases, a two-week supply of vital drugs is a matter of safety, not comfort. Any disruption in logistics can be critical. In addition to prescription medications, the house should always have antipyretics, painkillers, antihistamines and basic dressings. The golden rule: Check expiration dates at least twice a year.
When it comes to food and water, there is no need for fanaticism. No one wants to turn an apartment into an underground shelter. Reasonable approach is the principle of rotation. Keep on hand bottled water and the usual products of long-term storage: cereals, pasta, canned food, tea. Have you eaten a can of stew or a pack of buckwheat? Buy a new one on your next trip to the store. So the supplies will always be fresh, and the family budget will not suffer.
The meaning of these recommendations is very simple. This is not about preparing for a global apocalypse, but about creating a practical “security buffer” in case of ordinary household troubles. This is an inexpensive and affordable way to keep your nerves, health and comfort in any unforeseen situation.
