In Rostov-on-Don on October 12, the absolute temperature maximum for the last 115 years was recorded. The air in the city warmed up to +24.9 degrees, which was the highest figure in the history of meteorological observations since 1911.
That record set a new high for October 12, well above the autumn 2026 average. While September pleased residents with warm, almost summer weather, October brought a more variable temperature: during the day about 15 degrees, but with noticeable night cold snaps and periods of warming.
Despite the generally warm autumn, the region retains a significant contrast between day and night temperatures. At the same time, the date of establishing a sustainable winter, when the average daily temperature drops below zero, remains on average around November 22, although exceptions are possible.
