“Russians, do you ever panic?”: the Irishman visited Russia and understood why our people do not lose their heads even in a crisis

One day, during a power outage, Tim began to worry about a dead phone. His Russian friend reacted quite differently: he offered to melt the oven, light candles and bake potatoes.

“Not for the first time, let’s live!” he said calmly.

This case made the Irishman wonder why Russian residents are so accustomed to everyday difficulties, writes the Zen channel “In pursuit of the unusual”

Over the years of traveling from the Russian North to Siberia, Tim has repeatedly noticed that many people are able to adapt to circumstances and manage what is at hand.

One of the reasons he sees in the climate and history of the country. Long winters and short summers required early stockpiling, and wars and economic crises forced people to rebuild their lives. Even in the harsh 1990s, many families were looking for ways to feed loved ones: growing vegetables in the gardens, engaged in trade and mastering new professions.

The Irishman was also surprised by the habit of keeping food at home in case of unforeseen circumstances, independently solving household problems and helping others. According to him, mutual assistance often becomes an important support in difficult times.

At the same time, the traveler admits that resistance is characteristic not only of Russians. Each nation has its own historical experience, which affects the attitude to difficulties. However, during his trips to Russia, he repeatedly met people who preferred to look for a way out rather than give in to panic.

At the same time, constant readiness for crises does not mean that people want to live in survival mode for life. Russians, like people in other countries, need stability and confidence in the future.

The main conclusion that Tim came to is simple: it is impossible to foresee all the circumstances, but you can learn to act even when the usual order collapses.

It is the ability to maintain composure, find practical solutions and rely on the help of loved ones that the Irishman considers one of the features that he especially remembered during his travels in Russia.
