Ryazantsev urged to check the binding of numbers to Google accounts

The automatic number confirmation feature on Android devices can link the SIM card to all Google accounts authorized on the smartphone. The corresponding mechanism is described in the official certificate of the American company. The situation drew attention in the state Duma of the Russian Federation.

“A user can deliberately separate their accounts, but it is important to understand what information is automatically linked between accounts,” said MP Anton Nemkin.

The parliamentarian also said that Google explained that the number confirmation mechanism is necessary to restore access and search for lost devices.

To manage privacy, users need to turn off the automatic confirmation function in the smartphone settings. Existing anchorages must be checked and manually erased in the personal information section of each Google account and are not automatically deleted.
