From March 1, 2027, retail sale of vapes will be banned in the NAO

From March 1, 2027, the retail sale of vapes and liquids for them will be banned in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

This was reported by the Governor of NAO Irina Gekht. In June, she spoke about the order to prepare such a bill. Now the Assembly of Deputies of the NAO supported the initiative introduced by the head of the region. The Governor thanked the MPs for this decision.

The ban applies to electronic cigarettes, pod systems, evaporators, including nicotine-free, electronic hookahs and liquids to them. The date is determined by federal law: from March 1, regions will be able to introduce such restrictions.

- Our goal is to reduce the availability of these products, especially for children and adolescents. You can not leave parents and teachers alone with the problem and expect that one conversation will be able to protect children from a dangerous hobby, said Irina Gekht.

The governor acknowledged there was a well-founded fear that the trade would go underground. You can't dismiss him. It is necessary to suppress illegal sales, and the adopted law does not abolish this task. But the risk of circumventing the ban is not a reason to keep vapes in normal retail.

Irina Gekht stressed that one solution to the problem is not to exhaust. We need control over compliance with the law, prevention, and assistance to those who have already faced addiction. For its part, the county uses the powers to protect children's health.
