- In 2025, 11 minors died in the capital from external causes: four as a result of falling out of windows, one each due to electric trauma, drowning, accidents and asphyxia. As a result of suicide, three teenagers died, said Victoria Kopylova, Senior Prosecutor of the Minsk Prosecutor’s Office for Supervision of the Execution of the Legislation on Minors and Youth. For eight months of 2026 in Minsk recorded the death of five minors from external causes, four of which were as a result of suicide and one from mechanical asphyxia.

This year, the facts of trauma to young children as a result of falling out of windows in Minsk were also recorded. So, in July at about 19:00 a boy was taken to the hospital, 2020. He had abdominal injuries and facial abrasions, which the child received after falling from the balcony of the third floor.

The interlocutor emphasizes that most cases of falling out of the windows of children are not a coincidence of circumstances, but the result of carelessness of adults and improper fulfillment of their duties for the upbringing and maintenance of children.

- In our case, the child is disabled, he is diagnosed with autism, continues V. Kopylova. Parents at lunch drank three liters of beer and went to rest. Their son first sat next to them with a phone, and then got bored and went to the balcony, from where he fell out. There is parental irresponsibility and carelessness.

Abandoned buildings and construction sites, roofs of houses and other prohibited places deserve special attention. This is not a place to play, but the risks of collapse, fall and injury. Snapping, rufing and other forbidden entertainment is not heroism, but mortal danger. Cool shots for social networks are not worth life.

- This year, a 13-year-old resident of the capital was found by his mother hanging in a loop, says Victoria Kopylova. According to the results of the inspection, it was established that it was not suicide - there were no reasons and intentions for the teenager to take his life. He wanted to record a video of an entertaining nature, but the attempt, alas, ended in a fatal accident.

And in May, two 13-year-olds bought a roll of foil and a pipe-cleaning mixture from a store. They were going to experiment with them by mixing them in a water bottle, and they were curious to know what chemical reaction would happen. Suddenly, the bottle began to heat up and burst in the hands of one of the students. Its contents got in his face and on his neck. The teenager suffered serious burns.

Issues of prevention of trauma and death of children from external causes are under close attention of the prosecutor's office. The interlocutor noted that in order to avoid such tragic cases, parents must establish a trusting relationship with the child, know where and with whom he spends his free time, as well as take care of the organization of his leisure.
