Samara applicants can be given another 25 points for non-core subjects of the exam

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has launched a new initiative for applicants to universities.

The Agency plans to accrue additional points for the results of the exam on subjects that are not included in the mandatory list.

This innovation will directly affect applicants of the Samara region, choosing directions in mathematics, natural sciences or engineering.

Previously, such academic achievements were simply ignored in the formation of the final competitive rating.

Now the successful delivery of even non-core disciplines will be a significant advantage for candidates for budget places. This will allow universities to identify the most diversely developed candidates with a broad outlook.

Such a measure stimulates schoolchildren to study related disciplines in depth at the stage of preparation.

As a result, regional universities will receive more motivated and erudite applicants.

The final rules for accruing additional points will be approved by the relevant department in the near future, the RIA Novosti portal reports.
