Samsung Galaxy T1: A new era of sports headphones or another “magic” from Samsung?

Samsung is preparing for the release of the Galaxy T1 (aka Buds Canal 5, SM-R545) – sports headphones with ear-hook design, which have already been certified in China and Korea. We compared them with the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, Buds On, as well as with the main competitors – Apple AirPods Pro 2 and Sony WF-1000XM6. The focus: design, sound, autonomy, price and availability. The results are in the table at the end.

History of appearance: from rumors to certification

In the tech world, rumors spread faster than memes about Elon Musk. So the Galaxy T1 first surfaced in leaks under the code name Canal 5, and now officially lit up in the databases of regulators in China and Korea. As Arthur C. Clarke said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” And now, Samsung is wizarding again: headphones with a mysterious “wrap-around” design that promise to become a must-have for everyone who runs, jumps or just doesn’t like it when headphones fall out of their ears at the most inopportune moment.

Design and Ergonomics: When Sport Meets Style

If the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro is a classic of the genre with a metal stem and minimalism, and Buds On is the first Samsung “clips” for the ears, then the Galaxy T1 goes further: ear-hook, that is, ear-mounting, like the good old sports models of the early 2000s. Only now it is not “old school”, but an ultra-modern accessory for buzzers and millennials.

Apple AirPods Pro 3 still rely on versatility and compactness, and Sony WF-1000XM6 – on maximum comfort and noise insulation. But it is the T1 that can become the “new standard” for those who do not want to lose headphones on a run or in the gym.

Historical parallel:

Emerging ear-hook design in T1 is like bringing vinyl back to the Spotify era: an old solution, but with new meaning and technology.

Sound Quality and Advanced Quality Options: Magic or Marketing?

Samsung is still keeping the intrigue: no details about drivers, codecs or “chips” T1. But if you believe the leaks, we are waiting for “Advanced quality options” – perhaps improved aptX, support for 24-bit audio or even something like a personalized equalizer.

Galaxy Buds 4 Pro already know how to Hi-Fi, Buds On – more about convenience than about audiophile.

The AirPods Pro 3 is traditionally strong in spatial audio and adaptive noise cancellation, and the Sony WF-1000XM6 is a recognized king in terms of detail and depth of sound.

Pop culture reference:

If the sound of the Galaxy T1 were a Game of Thrones hero, it would be Arya Stark: imperceptible but able to surprise at the most unexpected moment.

Autonomy: How many hours of freedom?

There are no official figures for the T1 battery, but rumors are promising a “big battery” in the case. This is critical for the sport: no one wants to be left without music halfway to a personal record.

Buds 4 Pro hold up to 8 hours (with a case - up to 30), Buds On - about 6 hours (24 with a case).

AirPods Pro 3 - 6 hours (30 with a case), Sony WF-1000XM6 - up to 8 hours (32 with a case).

If the T1 does get a "monstrous" battery, it will be like the appearance of scooters on the streets: first surprises, then you can not live without them.

Price and availability: how much does it cost to be in the trend?

Samsung has been quiet for now, but if you focus on the Buds 4 Pro (about $230) and Buds On (about $120), then the T1 will likely be somewhere in the middle - $150-$180.

AirPods Pro 3 costs about $ 250, Sony WF-1000XM6 — $ 280.

The release date has not been announced, but the certification in the two countries hints that the wait is not long, perhaps the premiere will take place along with the Galaxy S27.

Who will win the battle for the ears?

In an era when headphones have become not only a gadget, but also a fashion accessory, the choice is always a compromise between style, convenience, sound and price. The Galaxy T1 is a clear contender for the title of “best for sports”, but will they be able to squeeze the AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6 in the hearts of audiophiles and geeks? As Steve Jobs said, “Innovation distinguishes a leader from a follower.” We’ll see if the T1 becomes the new leader or stays in the shadows of its predecessors.

Philosophical finale:

As Walter Isaacson said, “To succeed in the twenty-first century, creativity and technology must be combined.” The Galaxy T1 is Samsung’s attempt to do just that: combine sports, style and sound in one device. Will it work? We'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, choose your ears wisely and it is silence.
