“Silver” Serpukhov volunteers at the forum in Kolomna
On October 26, a thematic forum for volunteer organizations of the Moscow region was held in Kolomna, dedicated to the development of the movement “Volunteers of the Moscow Region”. Among the participants were “silver” volunteers from the Serpukhov City District.
As part of the program, guests organized a tour of the Kolomna Kremlin and told about the history of the city. At the forum, successful volunteering practices, issues of promoting the movement and attracting older people to social activities were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the topic of mentoring and continuity of generations – in particular, mechanisms for the transfer of experience from older to young people and support for the activity of older people by young volunteers. The key areas of “silver” volunteering include targeted assistance to single elderly citizens, families of SVO participants, as well as wards of nursing homes and boarding schools.
