Sergey Sobyanin announced the beginning of construction of schools of the future

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin visited the site of the future school under construction in Presnensky district.

Sobyanin noted that dozens of schools are being built and reconstructed annually in the capital, trying to bring them to the modern standard. Each new building will last for decades.

“It will be attended not only by our children, but also by our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Therefore, today we are thinking about creating a new standard for Moscow schools. In fact, schools of the future with new content, with new architecture, with new opportunities for children.

One of these schools is being built in Presna, it is planned to be introduced by September next year.

The facility on Klimashkin Street (house 13b, building 1) is being built as part of the Moscow Address Investment Program. The four-storey building of almost 13 thousand square meters is being built on an individual project and is designed for 675 pupils of grades 1-11, including a barrier-free environment for children with disabilities.

The school is made in a futuristic style. On the side facades will be placed decorative elements in the form of petals, illuminated by obo-projectors, which in the dark will create the effect of live flowers. The key color accent is blue details in the decoration, interiors and illumination of the entrances. The original facade with vertical lamellae made of fiberglass and metal will give the building a rhythmic structure with the play of light and shadow.

The interior space was designed as multifunctional and adaptable for different educational and creative tasks. There will be universal and specialized rooms, a laboratory and research complex for practical classes in natural sciences, a workshop for processing wood and metal, a creative workshop for fine arts and music, a kitchen and home economics office. Among the general school spaces there is a multifunctional conference hall, a media library, recreation areas, a dining room with sectors for different age groups and medical offices. There are two gymnasiums: for primary school students - 12 by 24 meters, for secondary and high school - 18 by 30 meters with a transformable partition.

The territory next to the school will be landscaped: trees and shrubs will be planted, the lawn will be broken, small architectural forms and art objects will be installed, including a large blue mirror ball in front of the entrance, a bicycle park will be arranged and paths will be paved. Underground monolithic work has already been completed, now specialists are erecting the second floor. The main work is scheduled to be completed in 2027.

Schools of the Future is a project of Sergey Sobyanin, designed to create an educational environment of new quality. Such complexes will replace small outdated buildings that cannot be reconstructed according to modern requirements.

“These will be true childhood cities with squares and streets, sports and recreational areas. We will place scientific-laboratory, sports-health and creative-project profile centers in them, the mayor wrote in his channel.

The project is based on the idea of a “city within a city” with functional clusters, which is especially valuable in the Moscow climate, where cold weather persists from November to March. In the city center, it is planned to build 15 schools of the future, 11 of them are already being designed and built.

Since 2011, 764 educational facilities have been built in Moscow, including 518 kindergartens and 246 schools. In 2026, it is planned to open 60 institutions, of which more than 40 are already operating. The My School program reached full capacity in the third year: four buildings were renewed in 2024, 51 in 2025, and 100 schools were opened in September this year.
