Sergey Winter October 20: why you should wear a new scarf on your head
October 20 in the national calendar is called "Sergei Winter" or "Dzimki".

On this day there was a strict order: in the morning, the first thing to feed livestock, and only then sat down to eat breakfast themselves. The youngest member of the family was instructed to melt the stove, believing that this would ensure warmth in the house for the whole long winter.
Our ancestors knew a great way to store pickles. While the reservoirs did not fetter ice, careful owners lowered tightly sealed barrels of cucumbers to the bottom of rivers and lakes. Under the ice, the water temperature is always stable (about +4°C), which creates ideal conservation conditions. In the spring, such blanks were taken fresh and crispy, as if they had just been removed from the bed, and in taste they were much superior to vegetables that were stored in the cellar.
The signs of this day often echo from October 8 (the day of Sergius of Radonezh), since for a week and a half of cold, they naturally shift to more southern regions. Women were advised to wear a new scarf. It was thought to protect against headaches for the whole year. It was supposed to be given by a loving husband, because unmarried girls were not supposed to wear headscarves. But the future mothers prayed that the birth did not fall on this date, considering them on this day especially difficult.
There was also a sign that if the weather is clear on October 20, then it is still three weeks. And people born in the "Zimki", in the old days attributed stubborn and jealous disposition.
