Forecasters sharply worsened the weather forecast for November – December: what to prepare for

Roshydromet presented a seasonal forecast for the end of 2026. Experts warn of sharp weather contrasts. Residents of the Urals, Siberia, the Far East and the center of Russia should be on their guard, although abnormal cold weather is not widely expected.

In Central Russia, November will be unstable: thaws and wet snow will be replaced by cold snaps. December promises to be close to climate normal. The main danger for drivers and pedestrians during this period is sudden ice.

In the Urals and Siberia, November is likely to be warmer than usual, but short-term cold waves cannot be ruled out. But December in these regions, especially in the south-west of Siberia, is likely to bring sustained frost and snow.

There are contrasts in the Far East. In Primorye, Khabarovsk Territory and Kamchatka, temperatures are expected to be above normal, but cyclones can bring squally winds and icing roads. At the same time, in the northeast (Magadan, Chukotka), the scenario, on the contrary, will be colder.

Experts recommend preparing cars in advance for the winter, changing tires and checking batteries. Pedestrians will need shoes with a non-slip sole, and owners of private houses should check the heating system in advance. It is important to remember: the seasonal forecast shows only a general trend, so always check the operational data of local weather services before long trips.
