Daily expenses of Belarusians in stores continue to grow. According to the National Statistical Committee (Belstat), for the first eight months of 2026, the average check per capita amounted to 34.2 rubles per day, which is 3 rubles higher than the same period last year. Belta reports.

The growth of consumer activity directly affected the general statistics of retail turnover. From January to August, it reached the mark of 75.5 billion rubles, an increase in comparable prices by 8.4% compared to last year. It is noteworthy that the growth rate accelerated: a month earlier, in the first seven months, the figure was 8.1%.

The bulk of citizens’ spending – more than 96% of the total retail volume – fell on trade organizations. Their turnover amounted to 72.7 billion rubles, adding 8.9%. Positive dynamics are observed in other segments. Wholesale turnover after several months of decline for the first time came to a plus, recording an increase of 0.2% to 121.1 billion rubles. Belarusians also began to visit catering establishments more often: their revenue grew by 1.8%, amounting to 5.3 billion rubles.
