Gather a large female scientific community in one place: Spilevskaya - about the task of the forum of women scientists

The tasks of the upcoming first forum of women scientists were told to journalists by the chairman of the Belarusian Women’s Union, director of the Mir representative office in Belarus Olga Shpilevskaya. Details are reported by sb.by correspondent.

The event is included in the action plan for the implementation of the Year of the Belarusian Woman and will be held under the auspices of the BCJ. The forum was initiated by the primary organizations of the women’s movement of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State University.

Olga Shpilevskaya noted that any forum is aimed primarily at familiarizing its participants with each other.

- Our forum is an attempt to bring together a large female scientific community on one platform, the head of the BSJ emphasized.

She noted:

- In order for us to have a practical result, we need to gather people in one place so that they understand who is looking in which direction, who is thinking about what and where there may be some points of contact. I am sure that this will lead to some practical results. Even after the work of the sections, when the reports will be announced, people, perhaps, of different directions will understand that there is a moment when science can move into applied practice.

According to Olga Shpilevskaya, the BSJ expects that the forum will become traditional:

- We expect that there will be a continuation. Any event of the Belarusian Women’s Union happens for the first time, but how it will live on depends on the result we get, on how much it will be in demand by those for whom it is intended. We always rely on this, we are not afraid to say that if we made a mistake, then we should not do it again. But I am sure that this will not happen with the forum of scientists. Once we had the first forum of village workers, which will be held for the sixth time. I believe that with the forum of women scientists, it will also turn out to be a good tradition, that the event will be in demand by the younger generation and the older generation, who are ready to share their experience.

According to the chairman of the BCJ, it is important for young people to see a live example that your work can result in something important and necessary, that there are those who are ready to support on the way.

The result of the forum will be a collection of scientific research presented at the forum.

- We have always tried to publish collections of scientific works by women scientists, members of the Belarusian Women’s Union, in order to emphasize the importance of the fact that the fair sex, who have achieved really great success in science, remain people with an active civic position, who care about what happens in society, who want to transfer their experience to young people, Irina Kazakova, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Belarusian Literary Studies of the Philological Faculty of the Belarusian State University, Chairman of the primary organization of the BSJU, drew attention.

In addition, those who wish will be able to publish in the scientific and educational electronic journal of BSU “Sofia”.
