Sortavala embankment will be decorated with a sculpture of a cat Tishko

The administration of the Sortavala district shared the news: the city will be decorated with a new brass statue of a cat. The authors of the idea are the same team that previously presented popular characters to Petrozavodsk: Grandfather Homa and Grandmother Nuru. The choice of a cat image for Sortavala is not accidental. The Karelian Bobtail, famous for its short tail, is historically considered a local symbol of the region.

Tishko will become the second representative of cats on the coast - in the summer of this year, a bronze cat with a pomp-tail has already been registered here. The new figure of brass will be placed near the center "Serdobol". The organizers emphasize that the cat will be specially placed so that citizens and tourists can pet it - for good luck.

It is worth noting that the fashion for brass sculptures is firmly entrenched in the region. For example, near the complex "Dawn" for a year already operates "Park Tonttu" with miniatures of historical buildings, and on the territory of "Ruskeala" visitors are met by funny brass gnomes. Tishko was conceived by an initiative group of residents as a good gift to the city and the embodiment of local legends about the famous short-tailed Bobtail.
