According to P. Utyupin, the SCO countries account for almost 50% of the world’s population, about 30% of world GDP and a significant share of foreign trade. Belarus became a full member of the organization in 2024 and can now directly participate in decision-making.
- We try to make proposals and transfer our initiatives, practices, results and competencies, Utyupin quotes BelTA.
Belarus has significant competences in agriculture. In 2026, the Agroshos forum was held on the sidelines of Belagro with the participation of representatives of the countries of the organization and its secretariat. Belarus proposed to develop joint production facilities taking into account sanitary, epidemiological and phytosanitary requirements.
- The main task is to facilitate the unhindered movement of goods, services and capital between the participating countries, the Deputy Foreign Minister said. In the future, observer countries and partner countries, of which there are now 17, can join this process.
This year, Belarus presented the Minsk Initiative at a meeting of SCO education ministers. It proposes to combine education, science and the real sector of the economy for the development of applied developments. Minsk hosted not only a ministerial meeting, but also a forum of SCO rectors and a forum of young scientists.
