Reception of works from creative youth for the poetry contest “Our September 17”

Reception of poetic works from creative youth at the festival-competition dedicated to the Day of National Unity has been open since September 7 in Minsk, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The organizers of the event “Our September 17” are the agency “Minsk-Novosti” and the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Students, college students, students and working youth under the age of 35 are invited to participate in the poetry competition. Participants are invited to prepare a poem of their own composition on the theme of the Day of National Unity. From each author - one work in Russian or Belarusian with a volume of 4 to 12 quatrains, written independently.

Director of Gymnasium No. 1 named after F. Skaryna, Honored Teacher of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Bushnaya noted that the poetic format of the competition is of interest to the young generation.

The topic of the festival competition is more relevant than ever. We must educate our children on collectivist values. The idea of unity, the event that took place in 1939, is important now not only in terms of preserving historical memory. It is also necessary in the context of modernity. We, the different generations, adults and what we call digital today, must be united, find intersections and help each other. Now, by the way, not only the elders teach the younger, but our young citizens also teach us, adults, setting an example in the rapid development of modern technologies, AI. And this competition is a great idea! Even if only because the youth, participating in it, will turn to the poetic word. - said N. Bushna.

The teacher of Russian language and literature of Gymnasium No. 39, who prepared 16 100 points of CE this year, Elena Zachatko, shared her tips for writing a poem:

- The process of creativity should begin first of all with the study of history, information about a significant event. And I recommend to get acquainted with the works of poets, which were written in 1939. This will allow you to see how people experienced, talented, felt, experienced, interpreted a historical event in their works, living at that time, Zachatko said. National Unity Day has new, modern meanings. This is unity in everything: in love for the Motherland, its nature, its people and history. It is important to focus the attention of the younger generation on this, including using creative competitive formats. We wish our young talents success!

Applications for the competition are accepted from September 7 to October 17, 2026 inclusive.
