In the vineyards of Stavropol, harvesting was carried out on more than 70% of the area, and the gross harvest of amber berries has already exceeded 27 thousand tons - 8% more than in the same period last year.
In the region, both technical varieties for the production of wine and juices and canteens are cultivated, which are in high demand in the retail market. More than 70% of fruit-bearing vineyards are located in Budennovsk, Levokum and Petrovsky districts.
Every year about 100 hectares of new vineyards and nurseries are laid in the region, and this year farmers plan to lay 109 hectares, of which 106 are commercial vineyards and 3 are nurseries, the Minister of Agriculture of the region Oleg Bezmenov said. According to him, the constant renewal and expansion of plantations will not only increase the gross harvest, but also provide farms with their own planting material adapted to local soil and climatic conditions.
73.1 million rubles have been allocated for the development of viticulture and winemaking within the framework of the regional state program "Development of Agriculture" this year, of which 68.7 million are from the federal budget and 4.4 million from the regional budget.
Stavropol region is among the viticulture regions of Russia along with Kuban and Dagestan, but relies on table varieties and local technical hybrids, which allows the region to occupy a niche in the market of fresh berries.
Earlier it was reported that the Stavropol region threshed 313.9 thousand tons of corn.
