In the Russian capital, doctors successfully got rid of cancer 83-year-old patient who was preparing for marriage. Details of this unusual case were shared by representatives of the press service of the National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N. N. Blokhin.
According to the clinic, the elderly Muscovite leads an active lifestyle, regularly devotes time to physical exertion and takes long walks. Shortly before the planned celebration, doctors identified a malignant neoplasm in her rectum, which required urgent surgical intervention. The medical institution clarified that standard treatment protocols for such pathologies usually involve the removal of temporary stoma to minimize the likelihood of postoperative complications.
However, the patient categorically refused to form a stoma because of the approaching wedding. In this situation, the surgeons decided to perform minimally invasive surgical intervention. Malignant tissue has been successfully removed through natural pathways. As a result, the woman was discharged home in excellent physical shape and without the need to wear a stoma, and the grateful patient promised to invite all the doctors involved in the operation to her wedding.
