The court banned an entrepreneur from Priozersk to sell cigarettes more expensive than the retail price

The Priozersk city court of the Leningrad region ruled in favor of Rospotrebnadzor on a lawsuit against an individual entrepreneur, which was filed to protect consumer rights. This was reported in the press service of the interregional management of Rospotrebnadzor in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

During the monitoring of the Honest Sign system, Rospotrebnadzor employees established that a local entrepreneur from December 2025 to June 2026 sold tobacco products in violation of the maximum retail price (MRC) indicated on the pack. By law, the seller must provide consumers with accurate information about the product and its price (Law of the Russian Federation “On Protection of Consumer Rights”, Art. 495 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation). Exceeding the maximum retail price (MRC) is illegal.

The judge ruled against individual entrepreneur Belyaev: the entrepreneur is obliged to stop selling tobacco products at prices higher than the established ones. Minimum retail prices (MRC) must be strictly observed. It is important to transfer information to the monitoring system in a timely manner.

In addition, within a month, the entrepreneur must bring the court decision to the attention of residents of the Priozersky district through local media.
