Its reserves are enough: the Ministry of agriculture announced a positive situation with the supply of apples
In Belarus will plant more than 1000 hectares of gardens on drip irrigation. This will allow you to store domestic apples until the new harvest and avoid imports.
The provision of the domestic market of Belarus with domestic apples is developing positively. This was stated on the air of the TV channel “Belarus 1” by the head of the main department of crop production of the Ministry of Agriculture Nikolai Leshik.
According to him, the fruit harvest in the country is expected to be good, since weather anomalies - hail and extreme temperature changes - bypassed the gardens. Apples have grown into a marketable species. To further saturate the market, farmers annually lay more than a thousand hectares of modern gardens on drip irrigation with winter varieties. This will provide the population with fresh fruits not only from autumn to May, but also preserve them until the next harvest.
Nikolai Leshik also spoke about the work of stabilization funds: from 13 to 20% of products are laid in them for vegetables, and up to 50% for onions. In two years, Belarusian consumers will prefer only local apples.
At the same time, the expert noted that the year was unfavorable for the cultivation of Belarusian watermelons, but some farms still harvested an exotic berry and put it at agricultural fairs.
