The potent substance was transported in three trucks transiting from Turkey to Belarus, the Russian Federal Customs Service said.
At the Magarakent customs post, inspectors stopped three trucks. According to the documents, they listed biologically active additives. However, during the inspection, cardboard boxes were found, which contained more than 46 thousand capsules with a drug for weight loss, as well as coffee and tea.
The examination confirmed the presence of sibutramine in the seized products - a potent substance prohibited for import into Russia.
On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1.1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal movement of potent substances across the customs border of the EAEU). The sanction of the article provides for up to seven years imprisonment with a fine of up to a million rubles.
