Tatarstan proposed to set a quota of 16,000 foreign workers for 2027, of which three thousand seats are provided for Indian citizens

Tatarstan has put forward an initiative to set a quota of 16,000 foreign workers for 2027, of which three thousand places are provided for Indian citizens. This was reported by the Deputy head of the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Tatarstan Klara Tazetdinova at a briefing dedicated to the upcoming Russian-Indian business forum “TIME”.
According to her, the republic uses two mechanisms of labor migration: patents for citizens of countries with visa-free entry and quotas to attract workers from countries requiring visas. The quota mechanism allows the employer to determine in advance the need for foreign specialists and take responsibility for their employment.
Currently, about 58 thousand migrants work in Tatarstan, of which about 1.7 thousand are citizens of India. Indian specialists, according to the republican authorities, can help fill the personnel shortage in such areas as construction, healthcare, information technology and agriculture. Among the advantages of workers from India is the knowledge of English, which simplifies communication and training, and the ability to self-organize and quickly adapt to new conditions.
The Republic uses the involvement of foreign workers as an additional mechanism to close the personnel shortage, which cannot be covered at the expense of local specialists and graduates of educational institutions.
