Hundreds of people took part in a requiem rally in memory of the victims of the Berez-Kartuzskaya concentration camp on the eve of National Unity Day. People from different regions of the country, representatives of patriotic forces and public organizations, local residents gathered at the memorial to honor the memory of the victims of the policy of ethnocide of the Belarusian people.
- This memorial, like nowhere else, feels the pain of that time, - said Vladimir Pavlovsky, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. - This is a wound that has been tried to heal for many years. September 17, 1939 is an important date for the history of our country. It was on this day that the liberation campaign of the Red Army and the process of reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR began. Of course, the residents of these places took it with joy, which shows that Belarusians have always been a single people, even though they were separated by an artificially created border.
- Of course, each generation has its own challenges. But the main difference between these young people and those young people is that they did not have freedom. Today, we live in a free, independent Republic of Belarus, we can study, work, create families, and make plans for the future. We must not let down those who created, preserved and handed over our country. We need to learn, work, support each other. After all, unity is not only a common history, but also a responsibility for the future.
