Tulyaks can help Kulikovo Field win the All-Russian prize

The museum complex "Kulikovo Field" reached the final of the All-Russian award "More than a journey" in the nomination "More than a place of power". Now residents of the Tula region can support the local landmark in the popular vote, which will last until October 25, the press service of the regional government told MK in Tula.

This year the organizers received more than 17 thousand applications from all over Russia. The expert jury selected 72 finalists in six nominations dedicated to tourist routes, excursions, hiking, media, services and places that are of special importance to travelers.

The finalists have already submitted their projects to the expert council during the face-to-face defense in Moscow. Now, when choosing winners, not only the assessment of experts, but also the results of the popular vote are taken into account.

Earlier, “MK in Tula” told about a large-scale environmental experiment on the Kulikovo field. Specialists of the museum-reserve restore the forest-steppe landscape here, which existed during the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380.

Since the XVII century, these lands were actively used for agriculture: forests were cut down, and territories were plowed. The historical appearance of the area was decided at the end of the XX century. Paleogeographers studied the territory and established what the landscape was like in the XIV century. Based on these studies, specialists began to restore forest areas and steppe areas.
