In the Kaliningrad region is preparing a new edition of the Red Book. The updated list of rare animals, plants and fungi is planned to be published before the end of 2026. This was reported in the regional Ministry of natural resources.

The new book will include 95 species, subspecies and populations of animals. Among them are three species of seals, porpoise, owl and black stork. Also in the edition will include 20 species of mushrooms.

The updated lists will cover hundreds of rare representatives of nature: mammals, birds, insects, plants, mosses, lichens and algae. The list of rare species was compiled on the basis of many years of scientific research.

The new edition will become a reference for scientists, ecologists, teachers and everyone who is interested in the nature of the Amber Territory. It will help specialists better protect rare species and preserve the natural diversity of the region.

Earlier we wrote that new guests visited the Kaliningrad Zoo.
