The surgery itself lasted about 90 minutes, but the head of the Catholic Church spent about three hours in the operating room.
The press service of the Holy See noted that the operation was successful and without complications. The pontiff has already returned to his chamber. Due to the need to restore all public audiences of the Pope canceled until October 20.
Earlier, the pontiff himself announced the upcoming operation, noting that the node in the lung tissues is small and isolated. The tumor was discovered during a regular medical examination.
