Scientists have calmed weather-sensitive people: strong magnetic storms on October 14 are not expected

Today, October 14, 2026, the Earth's magnetosphere is in a calm state. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS), the probability of geomagnetic disturbances today is minimal and is only 10%, and the risk of a strong magnetic storm is estimated at only 1%. No magnetic storms have been recorded in the past day.
However, experts warn that the situation may change. Until October 16, there will be two major centers of solar activity on the Sun-Earth line. In fact, we are talking about a single group of about 20 spots with a total area of 400 units.
“At the moment, despite its size, none of the areas has the energy for large flares, but you can get it if you want in one day,” the scientists explained. However, no “red alert” has been declared and the overall outlook remains favorable.
