Studying and working at BSU has always been an honor. Labor veterans honored on the eve of the 105th anniversary of the university

The honoring of labor veterans took place on the eve of the 105th anniversary of BSU. By the way, the same significant date this year marks the primary trade union organization of university employees. A solemn evening on the occasion of two anniversaries was held on October 21. About this correspondent sb.by reported in the press service of the university.

The guests of honor of the event were veterans of labor, associate professors of the Faculty of Journalism Angelina Rudenko and the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences Elena Dudko. Also invited 101-year-old professor FGG, veteran of the Great Patriotic War Fedor Feshchenko. The chairman of the primary trade union organization of university employees Ivan Yanushevich addressed the participants of the event. He thanked the guests for their dedication to the profession and alma mater, hard work and concern for the fate of the trade union organization. The director also noted the uniqueness of the event:

- This is a chance for the youth cell to meet with labor veterans, hear their story, share experience and wisdom. In fact, we organized a full-fledged dialogue of generations. On this day, personal facts from the biographies of our honorary employees will be heard, which will allow to draw a parallel between their professional capabilities and modern approaches to work.

In particular, Elena Dudko noted the important role of the primary trade union organization of university employees. She noted that not only employees but also their families were involved in the life of the university. “Everyone appreciated the place of work of their loved ones, helped in every way possible. So it was accepted, the assistant professor mentioned warmly. The veteran also touched upon the history of the first university of the country. According to her, studying and working at BSU was considered honorable in any year.

- The choice was influenced by the fact that BSU until 1969 was the only university in the BSSR. Getting into those days was particularly difficult. For example, applicants of the Faculty of Mathematics had to pass five entrance exams, Elena Dudko shared her memories.

Also on this day, veterans of labor and the most active members of the Youth Council of the primary trade union organization of BSU were awarded with gratitude of the organization and memorable gifts. Among them is the anniversary photo album “Belarusian State University: Always Be First!”. This book was presented to the participants of the event by the head of the press service of BSU Elena Martsulevich. According to her, this is the first in the history of the university illustrated chronicle of its key achievements.

- The uniqueness of the photo album lies in more than 300 retro photographs and modern photographs. The personnel reveal the leadership positions of BSU in educational, scientific, international, innovative, educational and ideological activities. Great emphasis was placed on the visits of senior government officials, in particular President of our country Alexander Lukashenko. The publication of the book in three languages – Russian, English, Chinese – works to strengthen the external image of Belarus, BSU as a national brand, whose history is inextricably linked with the development of the Belarusian state and education, Elena Martsulevich emphasized.

All BSU events this year are held under the auspices of the anniversary date. The official document on the opening of the university was the Decree of the CEC of Workers, Peasants and Soldiers Deputies of the SSRB of February 25, 1919. The solemn proclamation of the first Belarusian university took place on October 30, 1921.
