Ulyanovsk may lose part of painting MS-21 and Superjet

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is mastering the painting of civilian aircraft and from the beginning of 2027 plans to carry out these works independently. Earlier it was assumed that the MS-21 and Superjet will be painted at the facilities of the Ulyanovsk company Spectr-Avia.
Preparations for the transition have already begun. The technology was first tested on the An-24 of IrAero Airlines, and on October 10, the company plans to accept another such aircraft for repainting. Experts are now assessing quality and looking for ways to speed up the process.
The next stage will be working with new Russian airliners. The plant agreed to paint one experienced import-substituted Superjet 100, and in November intends to paint the MS-21 with Russian materials.
“We are filling our hand in order to move on to civil aircraft,” said the general director of the Irkutsk aircraft plant Andrey Soinov.
If the company implements these plans, the amount of work that was originally supposed to be performed in Ulyanovsk will be transferred to the Irkutsk site.
