Parents of the Ulyanovsk region may be affected by the possible tightening of the rules for the use of social networks by children

Parents of the Ulyanovsk region may be affected by the possible tightening of the rules for the use of social networks by children. According to the research of VTSIOM, 59% of Russians support restrictions for minors. However, the majority is not in favor of a blanket ban, but in favor of protecting children from dangerous content.
The issue of children’s safety on the Internet remains relevant for Ulyanovsk families. Social media has long been a part of teenagers’ daily lives, but many adults believe that minors should use it with certain restrictions.
According to the Analytical Center VTSIOM, 59% of Russians support additional measures to protect children in social networks.
At the same time, 50% of respondents believe that it is enough to restrict access to hazardous materials, preserving the ability to use platforms. Another 27% suggest allowing children under 16 to register and use social networks only with parental consent.
Most of the participants of the study appreciate such initiatives. 51% of respondents see restrictions as more beneficial, while 26% fear negative consequences.
However, the effectiveness of the ban is questionable. 82% of Russians believe that teenagers will find ways to bypass the established rules.
The question is who is responsible for the safety of children online. 63% of respondents place this responsibility primarily on parents. Another 13% consider the state responsible, and 9% - social platforms and IT companies.
Thus, for Ulyanovsk parents, as well as for families across the country, the main issue is finding a balance between protecting the child and his ability to use modern digital services.
The research “VTSIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on August 30, 2026. In the telephone survey took part 1600 adults Russians. Its results were presented on October 20 at a meeting of the Scientific Council of the Analytical Center VTSIOM.
Separate data on the Ulyanovsk region in the published results are not given.
