John Rockefeller IV: what is known about the great-grandson of the first dollar billionaire
Rockefeller's political career was closely tied to the U.S. Senate, where he was first elected in 1984

At the age of 89, American politician John Jay Rockefeller IV, the great-grandson of the founder of the Standard Oil syndicate and the first dollar billionaire John Rockefeller, died. This is with reference to the newspaper The Washington Post reports TASS.
Rockefeller's political career was closely tied to the U.S. Senate, where he was first elected in 1984. Over the years, he chaired influential committees on trade, science and transportation, veterans affairs and intelligence. In 2008, he led a bipartisan Senate investigation into the events that led to the Iraq War. In 2013, he announced his resignation before the 2014 elections, in which he ultimately did not participate.
Two years after his retirement from big politics, in 2016, Forbes magazine estimated the combined fortune of the Rockefeller clan at $ 11 billion, which allowed them to take the 23rd place in the ranking of the richest families in the United States. For comparison, the first place in the list then went to the Walton family (owners of the Walmart network) with a fortune of about $ 130 billion.
