In the Zelenograd district, the strengthening of the mouth of the Aleiki River was completed to protect nearby villages from flooding. Work began in November last year after several times flooded the village of Roshchino.
One of the reasons for the flooding was the accumulation of sea sand and silt in the place where the river flows into the sea. Because of this, the water was more difficult to leave, and its level in the river rose.
To solve the problem, experts fortified the shore with wooden piles, and then installed large sandbags and secured them with stones.
Now the water from the river and adjacent canals can go into the sea faster. This should reduce the risk of flooding during floods and severe storms.
According to the ministry, the fortification helped avoid flooding the villages during the storm on October 9. Specialists will continue to monitor the water level and the condition of the fortifications.
Earlier we wrote that Rostekhnadzor revealed violations on boiler houses in three villages near Zelenogradsk.
