It was dedicated to the work of municipal public councils

It was dedicated to the work of municipal public councils. One of the main topics was the course of the application campaign of the first regional contest “Best Public Council”, designed to show the importance of councils in the life of the municipalities of Pomerania: they promote dialogue between citizens and the authorities and act as an instrument of public control.
Chairman of the profile commission of the Public Chamber Mikhail Opehtin reminded that the acceptance of applications will end on December 30, and members of the commission and staff of the chamber are ready to provide methodological assistance in the preparation of tender documents. The evaluation of the submitted materials will last until February 1, 2027, and the winners and prize-winners will be announced by March 1.
Heads of municipal councils told about the work in 2026: Sergey Kovalev (Arkhangelsk), Lyudmila Tyurikova (Primorsky District), Nina Nikolaevskaya (Kargopol District) and Galina Zabrodskaya (Pinega District) gave examples of the best practices of public control - from inspections of social facilities and verification of assistance to participants of the SVO to assessing the quality of improvement under the Comfort Pomorie program.
Deputy Chairman of the Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly Igor Chesnokov noted that the regional parliament is in constant dialogue with public councils, and deputies in working trips necessarily meet with their members. Yuri Serdyuk, Chairman of the Civic Chamber of the region, stressed that most councils consider issues relevant to the population and, together with the local authorities, are looking for solutions, and public control is becoming an important social institution that primarily performs a preventive function. The meeting participants also approved a joint work plan for 2027.
