The patient from Kotlas was in serious condition: a tumor of the esophagus grew into the trachea and blocked breathing, because of which the man was on a ventilator. Since the neoplasm affected the place of branching of the trachea, a conventional stent did not fit - it would block one of the bronchi. Doctors installed a bifurcation (Y-shaped) stent with a shape memory effect, which restored the patency of two bronchi at once. The operation was carried out in close cooperation with anesthesiologists-resuscitators, who provided the patient with an oxygen reserve. The man has already been discharged home in satisfactory condition.
