Belarusian scientists, together with Russian colleagues, have found irrefutable traces of scoundrel habitat in the waters of the Sozh River basin in Belarus. This is reported by sb.by with reference to the telegram channel of the NASB SPC on biological resources.

Photo: telegram channel of NASB SPC on Bioresources — Representative of NASB SPC together with Russian colleagues from Oka State Natural Biosphere Reserve as a result of field work on approbation of a set of methods for collecting primary material for the study of populations of aquatic insectivores in floodplain waters of the Sozh River within Mogilev and Gomel regions confirmed the fact of habitation of Russian deer in this territory. On the surveyed reservoirs, for the first time in the last 40 years, traces of the life of the species were recorded: burrows and forage tables with the remains of freshwater shells. The variety of types of shelters in combination with a stable feed base indicates the preservation of small local populations of this species in the surveyed floodplain reservoirs of the Sozh River.
