A week of parental love is held in Belarus. How to support families with children and what else is in the plan

Between two warm holidays, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the Week of Parental Love is held in Belarus. What benefits and guarantees are provided for families with children, and what is planned to be done, the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection told the Minsk-Novosti correspondent.

- The main idea of parental love is to once again remind about the value of family, love and care for each other, the ministry said. The state creates all conditions so that families can safely raise children, and strongly supports this.

The Ministry of Labor reminded that support for families with children includes a large-scale package of measures. The country has an extensive system of benefits: maternity, family and temporary disability to care for children - only 11 types. When a child is born, the mother, father or other family member is granted paid leave to care for a child under the age of three. Families with children receive targeted social assistance and social services. In particular, at the birth of twins or triplets, a free nanny is provided, free food for children in the first two years of life.

- Guarantees are provided in housing, credit, tax, labor, pension legislation, the ministry said. Large families have an extraordinary right to build or purchase housing: preferential lending - at 1% for up to 40 years. They receive financial support in repaying loans: three children – 75%, four or more – 100%. Exempt from land tax, property tax, have an increased tax deduction for children on income tax. Parents of children with many children have the right to one paid free from work day a week, can use vacation in the summer or any other convenient time, guaranteed the extension of employment contracts.

Another measure to support families with children is being prepared.

- We are talking about linking the size of the allowance for the care of a child under the age of three to the real income of the recipient, the ministry said. At the same time, the minimum benefit will not be lower than the current one, and the maximum is planned to be set at the level of the average salary in the country.
