In Belarus, from 15 to 18 September, under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff – First Deputy Minister of Defense Pavel Muraveyko, a command-staff exercise (KSU) with the Western Operational Command is being conducted. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense.
The theme of the maneuvers is “Management of troops of the operational command during the strategic operation of the Armed Forces”. The main goal is to train control bodies, formations and military units to jointly solve problems in the preparation and conduct of large-scale hostilities.
The exercises are held in accordance with the Armed Forces Training Plan for the 2025/26 academic year. They are purely defensive in nature and are aimed at increasing the ability of troops to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. The educational environment was created taking into account the analysis of the experience of modern military conflicts.
During the KSU, issues of covering the state border and ensuring martial law will be worked out. Particular attention is paid to the tactics of searching, blocking and destroying enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, illegal armed formations, as well as combating light-engine aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles. It also provides for the development of the use of drones, camouflage, restoration of combat capability and comprehensive support of troops.
Practical actions will take place at the Gozhsky, Brestsky and Ruzhansky landfills, as well as at sites in the Brest and Grodno regions. The association management, support units, as well as mechanized and tank battalions with reinforcement means were involved in participation.
Chief of the General Staff Pavel Muraveyko noted that this association passed a combat readiness test in the spring. According to its results, the military assessed the ability of the headquarters to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment and the willingness to conduct an operation in reduced time intervals by 50-60%.
“We consciously focus on the preparation of the headquarters, because today a lot depends on the decision-making, the speed of the work of officials and the ability of the communication system to transmit signals. The main directions are decision-making, operational movement on the ground and deployment of control points by cluster type, explained Pavel Muraveyko.
The First Deputy Minister of Defense stressed that the arguments that the Armed Forces of Belarus are preparing to attack neighboring countries are absolutely groundless.
“Based on the results of the exercise, we want to get an answer to the questions of how the troops are adapted to modern conditions of warfare,” he concluded.
