Employees of the department of fraud processing suspended spending operations on 68 suspicious accounts, blocked three phishing Internet resources (fake trading platforms, banks or services indistinguishable from real ones), prevented the ability to make accruals to 14 foreign payment details used by attackers. The operatives also detained two couriers working in the interests of scammers.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the most common method of deception at the moment is viching (calls allegedly from officials). This is followed by the purchase of goods on the Internet, theft using social networks and rental housing.
In total, over the past day, the police received about 400 reports of calls from phone fraudsters. Thanks to the efficiency of internal affairs officers and the vigilance of citizens, the vast majority of crimes were prevented.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that promises of quick easy earnings or goods at low prices on the Internet almost always lead to the loss of money. If you receive suspicious calls from strangers, you should immediately stop the conversation and report the incident to the police.
